Jennifer Varenchik

Jennifer Varenchik (she/her) is a writer and director who started as an actress, then moved behind the camera so she could contribute to creating more accurate depictions of Indigenous people on screen. Jennifer’s theater background includes training from the Groundlings Improv Theater and the Stella Adler Academy of Acting, both in Los Angeles, CA. She studied screenwriting at Long Beach City College, and has written and directed several short films, commercials and PSAs.
​Jennifer is a proud member of the Tohono O’odham Nation of Arizona. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she graduated from St. Mary’s College of California with a degree in psychology. Before moving to Kaneohe, HI in 2019, Jennifer was a commissioner for the city of Artesia, CA. In 2021, Jennifer won the Hawaii Filmmakers Collective Pitch Contest and has completed her latest short film “In Our Own Hands”.
