Kali Simmons

Kali Simmons is an Oglala Lakota descendant and is currently a Ph.D Candidate at the University of California, Riverside. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Race and Ethnic Studies department at the University of Redlands where she teaches courses on Indigenous film and media.

Her research examines the representation of Indigenous people across a variety of media, with a special interest in the genres of horror, science fiction, and ethnography. Kali's current research project analyzes the ways Indigenous peoples have been represented in American and Canadian horror films.

Her work has been published in the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies and she has a piece on Indigenous horror forthcoming in the journal Science Fiction Film and & Television.
