Mike J. Marin (Navajo, Laguna Pueblo, Washoe) is an award-winning independent filmmaker from Oakland, CA. A retired early childhood teacher turned filmmaker, Mike shot, edited, and produced his first feature film The Smudging in 2015, which has now garnered 25 million views on Amazon Prime Video.
Mike earned a BA in Film and Video at Columbia College Chicago with a strength in screenwriting. He is also a founding member of Without Rezervation, the first recognized Native American rap group in the US and is a well-known professional action figure photographer and graphic designer.
Mike’s documentary Cinema Red: Natives & Horror won Best Documentary at the 2020 Suspense Horror Sci-Fi Film Festival and his short documentary Unboxed: The Art of Action Figure Photography won the Director’s Silver Award at the 2020 Director’s Screen Awards.
Mike resides in Los Angeles, CA where he spends his time writing and planning new film projects.
