Riel Munro

Riel Munro has honed his skills and expanded his experience on numerous projects from feature length to short format.
He has worked his way up starting as a motion picture technician and now takes on lead creatives roles as a Director or Director of Photography. Documentaries continue to be where Reil’s passion lies.
His most recent work includes serving as Director of Photography on the behind-the-scenes documentary showcasing the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s adaptation of the iconic novel “The Handmaid's Tale”. He also served as an Episode Director on the nationally broadcasted television series Medicine Line.
Reil has mentored under Mr. Tim Wolochatiuk as a Director’s Observer on the award winning feature length film “We Were Children”, and has also received specialized training in documentary filmmaker from Mr. Tom Schlesinger.
Riel recently spent 10 months as Director of Photography with the National Film Board, collaboration on their new project “At Home/Chez Soi” - a media series following participants with mental illness who are transitioning from homelessness to independent living.
​Additionally he directed Canadian documentary on the band The Watchmen, which premiered at NXNE. In his spare time Riel has written, produced, directed a number of short films and music videos, and continues to exercise his creativity at all possible times.
