Wilfred Dieter is an Indigenous artist from Peepeekisis First Nations.
Wilfred received my diploma in Graphic Communications in June 2015, where he was trained in technical side of Graphic Design and Photography. Working at CTV for over 3 years prior to Sask Polytechnics in productions helped Wilfred excel in photography, video and editing video. He registered his Graphic Design business a year before he graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnics. He has been an artist most of his life and started taking art seriously at the age of 4 when he accidentally drew Mickey Mouse...in his eyes.
In grade twelve, he won the Art Guild Award with a 99% final mark in his grade 12 art class and went to University of Regina where he excelled at 2 and 3 dimensional art classes. In the mid-90s, Wilfred attempted to be a comic book artist utilizing his ability to draw the human form in super hero style with a consistent style.
After he graduated from high school, he took up the guitar. He played in several bands over the course of 1997-2013. He still writes and performs his own original music playing the blues and old-school rock and sometimes accompanies a Nashville recording artist also from Saskatchewan.
Wilfred Dieter jumped into theatric acting working at Globe Theatre in Regina for a summer in 2006. Lately he has been occasionally making appearances in productions he becomes involved in since December 2015. His first full length feature as the Director of Photography in 2016 ‘It’s A Wonderful Afterlife’ and played the main villain/antagonist.
His first time Directing a full length feature was in the summer of 2018 with Nolan: Here Nor There. It showcased in 13 film festivals in 2020, won Best Picture and Best Performance at the SIFA Awards and Wilfred won Best New Talent at the Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival. He also had a small role as the newspaper editor in the movie.
The latest finished project Wilfred directed is called Some Kind of Lobster which is a mockumentary satire that will be released in film festivals around the globe. He is currently working on a documentary for the summer of 2021. Name of the documentary will be released soon.
Today, Wilfred is the proud Independent Business Owner of Ignite Media who is receiving commissions for graphic design, photography, and his involvement in the local independent movie industry.
